Vega is the right place to be if you want to experience constantly changing weather. A summer's day can hold the whole spectre; from wind, rain and hail in the morning to calm sunshine and a sun that never sets in the evening.

Changing weather leads to different adventures of the sea. Red sunsets in calm weather alternate with foaming waves in stormy weather. Between these extremes you can find a specter of colours, lights and sounds.

The climate in the district is characterized by mild winters and rather chilly summers. Average temperature during the coldest months, December, January and February, is about 0 degrees Centigrade.

The island's astonishing fertility is caused by the high humidity and a mild climate. The position just south of the Artic Circle means light around the clock in June and July. This is of importance to the plants and animals in the municipality.
